Civil War Speeches is a two-volume collection of significant speeches from the Civil War era.
The North volume includes speeches by William Henry Seward, Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Henry David Thoreau, Charles Sumner, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas, John Brown, Andrew Johnson, William Tecumseh Sherman, Angelina Grimke Weld, Sojourner Truth, Henry Ward Beecher, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The South volume includes speeches by John C. Calhoun, Roger Brooke Taney, James Henry Hammond, William Lowndes Yancy, Robert Barnwell Rhett, Judah Benjamin, Jefferson Davis, Alexander Hamilton Stephens, John Cabell Breckinridge, Robert L. Dabney, Albert Gallitan Brown, Robert E. Lee, John Wilkes Booth, and an address from the First Confederate Congress.
